Creating a more cohesive Europe

“From Christmas Traditions to Civic Action: The Power of Youth Solidarity in Europe”

ABOUT SOLIDARITOWN

SOLIDARITOWN is a European project, part of the European initiative CERV (Citizenship, Equality, Rights, and Values) and supported by the European Union. Through this project, Medina de Rioseco (the project’s lead city) will collaborate with other organizations such as the Christmas Towns Network Association, the City Council of Torrejón de Ardoz, the City Council of Genoa (Italy), the National Polytechnic University of Lviv (Ukraine), the Krško Center for Entrepreneurship and Tourism (Slovenia), the City Council of Bucharest (Romania), the Se Poate Association (Romania), the City Council of Gorlice (Poland), the Autokreakja Foundation (Poland), the City Council of Seia (Portugal), the Educpro Association (Portugal), the City Council of Leuven (Belgium), and the Educshakers Association (Belgium).

The project, supported by the Christmas Cities Network since its inception, seeks to establish a series of international conferences in each of the partner cities, where young people from across Europe will discuss their commitment to civic and European values that coincide with the celebration of Christmas. In particular, solidarity and unity among different communities, the promotion of Sustainable Development Goals across the continent, and assistance to people affected by wars and other conflicts in Europe and other parts of the world. In this sense, the project aims not only to celebrate diversity and solidarity at Christmas, but also to address current challenges.
